Be Productive Rather Than Busy or Active

Be Productive Rather Than Busy or ActiveThere is a difference between being busy and being productive. Being busy just means you have a lot of tasks you need to get done. Being busy says nothing about what you actually accomplished other than checking-off a task list. Being active is also not the same as being productive. Being active means you are involved in a lot of activity. Being active says nothing about the value of your activity. Being productive means you are putting your energy where it matters most. Productivity is usually measured against something of tangible value or worth, whether it is having better relationships, or generating money. But usually, it’s something fulfilling.

I don’t know about you, but I prefer to be productive rather than busy or active. For me, there is nothing fulfilling about having a long task list, or having a full calendar. I’d rather concentrate on a few important tasks than check-off a billion unimportant tasks. I’d rather fill my schedule with clients and a few worthwhile activities rather than fill every minute with minutia for the sake of appearing as though I lead an active lifestyle. Rather than focusing on checking-off your task list, or filling up your calendar, focus on being productive with what brings fulfillment into your life instead.
